Air Monitoring & Sampling
Air Monitoring
Air monitoring can be used to estimate how much airborne asbestos fibre is present in the work atmosphere. One method is the Membrane Filter method, where a sample is collected by drawing a measured quantity of air through a membrane filter attached to a sampling pump. The asbestos fibres are counted and expressed as fibres per millilitre of air, calculated from the number of fibres observed on the filter and the volume of air sampled.
Asbestos Sampling
Asbestos is found in many products, including:
-
Cement board cladding
-
Textured ceilings
-
Vinyl
-
Roofing
-
Switchboards/fuses
-
Hot Water Cylinders
-
Gaskets
-
Pipe insulation
-
Sheds
Buildings built up until the mid-1980s are likely to contain Asbestos whereas Buildings built after 2000 are less likely to contain Asbestos, however some buildings built after 2000 have been found to contain asbestos.
